 Tides of Time Overview.


This task is the 2nd task of the Anniversary Tower events of 2024.

It starts with looting a blue collectible which is Broken Key of Lava. It's found on the floor near the door on the 3rd floor of the tower.

Right clicking it gives you an item. Shaledig Shovel and also gives you the task Broken Key of Lava.


You found a broken key in front of a door warm to the touch from a mysterious tower. Upon inspection of the key, it appears repairable. While inspecting the broken key, you were granted a shovel that can dig in lava. You feel an overwhelming desire to investigate the lava fields of Lavastorm Mountains.

Investigate the magma rockpiles to see if the lava has displaced any missing pieces of the key.



Target a magma rockpile and right-click your Shaledig Shovel to spawn a magma basilisk scavenger.

The drops off the mobs for each below seem to be random. The rockpiles respawn is a bit slow, 20+ minutes.

  • 1. Acquire the Broken Key Blade of Lava 0/1 The Lavastorm Mountains

    In Lavastorm Mountains around the the zone are piles of what looks like red rocks stacked on top of each other. Targeting them they show as a magma rockpile. If you right click the Shaledig Shovel while near one, a mob near and under your level spawns and attacks.

    Kill it and then loot Broken Key Blade of Lava from its corpse.


  • 2. Acquire the Broken Key Bow of Lava 0/1 The Lavastorm Mountains

    Do the same above to any rockpile and fight again another magma basilisk.

  • 3. Acquire the Broken Key Bitting of Lava 0/1 The Lavastorm Mountains

    Do the same above to any rockpile and fight again another magma basilisk.

  • 4. Repair the Broken Key of Lava 0/1 ALL

    Stick all 3 pieces you looted into the Broken Key of Lava and hit combine.

    You end up with Repaired Key of Lava which is used to get the instance for Oasis of Lava.

    As you run around shoveling rocks and killing the spawns, be prepared to see duplicate drops, we wound up digging up 12 piles to get the three drops.. You can always just pick up from corpses folks leave behind.

    They must have fixed this. My 6 toons killed 3 lava beasts and got the right parts sequentially. No dupes. The respawn time is kinda slow, as stated here but there are a lot of rock piles.

    The lava rocks are small piles of roundish rusty colored rocks. They are targetable. This excludes the shiny spires, and grey boulders. (Those are larger and not targetable.) These lava rock piles are found near lava on glowing rocks and grey rocks; but not in flowing lava, from my experience.
